FIND THE BEST DENTISTS IN MEXICO CERTIFIED FOR WHAT YOU NEED - By the Board Certified Mexico Dentist Association

You can afford the best dentists in Mexico!  Here's how to find them.
Cabo San Lucas is a popular Mexico dental vacation destination

You have probably heard by now that one can get dentistry in Mexico at substantial savings for the same treatments in the US or Canada. But what about the quality?

In Mexico quality is problematic and here’s why. General dentists in Mexico untrained in dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, root canals etc. can legally attempt advanced dental procedures by practicing on unsuspecting patients.

This situation is not the result of any conspiracy, or criminality – just less consumer protection laws. It used to be the same situation in the US many decades ago.  But the Mexican government does not get in the way of any general dentists in Mexico who want to learn advanced dentistry the old-fashioned way – by trial and error on their patients (that’s you and me).

From cantinas to cavities

But it gets worse - especially in the smaller Mexican border towns like Los Algodones, El Progreso etc. There you can find many clinics which prey on desperate US patients operated often by illegal alien unlicensed dentists from Central America and the US (Oh yes!), dental school drop-outs, dental technicians and worse.

Also new, decent looking clinics operated by businessmen and American Insurance companies manned by young Mexican dental school grads doing (attempting) specialist work for minimal wages. Because they are too poor to open their own clinic. Interestingly, many of the clinics in town are in former cantinas and brothels. A parallel universe perhaps.

The Mexican government shut down 20% of the clinics in several border towns some years ago. But the bad ones come right back. There's too much money involved.

May God protect you if you get one of those nice young Mexican dentists learning root canals at your expense in a border town discount dental clinic.

Useful tip: Here's how to say "OUCH" in Spanish. "Aaaaay, Dios!, cuidado, pinche' dentista!"

Here's the rotten tooth about all the online dental broker agencies.

An article could be written about all the new dental tourism agencies with clever names like WhatevaDentist or DentureAdventures.com.  Denture Adventures?  Fact: They are not operated or staffed by people who know healthcare. No doctors, no dentists.

Here's the problema.

Commercial online dental tourism agencies accept any dentist’s listing who pays their listing fees whether they are a general dentist inaccurately calling themselves “specialist” (liars) or real bonafide fully accredited certified specialists. You don’t know what's kind of dental work you are going to get in their clinics.

If you are in Mexico for advanced dentistry like crowns, bridges, implants, makeovers etc. - the only way to be sure that the dentist isn't in over his/her head and is using you for practice is to get a board certified dentist. That's your best guarantee for they have put in the extra years in specialist college and have been tested by a specialist board.

But don’t be discouraged and give up on taking that Mexican dental vacation for here’s the way to get an affordable root canal with a margarita chaser. Just find a board certified dentist for your important dentistry.

Highly-skilled board certified dentists in Mexico with years of advanced specialist training cost the same as far-less skilled general dentists in Mexico. But board certified dentists represent less than 1% of the dentists in Mexico.

To find one - contact the Board Certified Mexico Dentist Association. They will find the right dentist for your specific needs in the dental vacation destination of your dreams whether Cabo San Lucas, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta or even Tijuana (stay and play in San Diego).

Their Association patient advisers which include dentists and doctors prepare estimates, referrals, arrange gratis ground transportation, answer questions about visas, send you dentists resumes and are there for you through the entire process. And without additional cost to you.

They offer a level of personal assistance that the commercial online dental tourism agencies do not and cannot.
